Buddy Holly
This album along with The Chirping Crickets is the reason 41 years later I am still a Buddy Holly fan. The two albums create the first group sounds that went beyond the boundaries of mere Rock'n'Roll, indeed they set the mould for youngsters to emulate the world over.
I was 13 years old when this album was released in the U.K. and I cannot express the awe in which I held this person.....how did he make a guitar sound like that.....I didn't have to wait long, he came over to Britain to show us exactly how!
I remember seeing him on the TV show "Sunday Night At The London Palladium" and was puzzled to see this new and rising star start the show, when usually the star of the show was the headlining act, of course he had another engagement that night which meant he had to hightail it out of the theatre to make the next venue.
