An Album of songs by
a popular 1950's Group

Buddy's Parents
Buddy was raised in Lubbock, Texas as the youngest member of a very caring family. His brothers Travis and Larry, and sister Pat were very supportive in his endeavours to become a recording artist. When Travis and Larry entered a talent contest when Buddy was very young Larry said "We didn't win the contest but Buddy was a very cute young boy, and I swear he won a special $5 prize for his performance because of his good looks......but what Buddy didn't know was that we had greased his violin bow so that the judges wouldn't hear him play!"

Buddy
Holly was the first singer songwriter of the fifties rock'n'roll era that
had mass appeal amongst not only the record buying public but also working
musicians, because his melodies were so playable. Even today, some 39 years
after his death I can hear Buddy's influence and style in many new recordings.
When I listen to a Holly CD the main thing that stands out is the difference
in nearly all the songs that he composed, and if you want to go to heaven
without the inconvenience of dying just play "Listen
to me" or "Crying,
Waiting, Hoping". Compare this to the
driving locomotive force of "Lonesome Tears"
and the sugary sweet "Everyday"
and you will surely see that this man was a serious contender for pop immortality
even before the tragic event on February 3 1959 that took him from us so
prematurely.
All Buddy's recordings
are still available on MCA Records
Buddy Holly gave us
great Rhythm and Blues songs like That'll Be The Day and also proved his
pedigree by writing beautiful love songs like True Love Ways.

I was fortunate to
see
the Crickets in person at the Assembly Rooms, Derby, U.K. in 1988 and was
impressed by the fact that neither J.I. nor Joe B. had lost their enthusiasm
for their music and they seemed to be thrilled at the reception given to
them by the audience. After the show they came into the auditorium to sign
autographs.
