When
the Pickering Brothers, Bill and John, with Bob Lapham went to Norman Petty's
Clovis, New Mexico studio on July 12, 1957 little did they know that they
would help to create a sound that lives on in the hearts and minds of Buddy
Holly's fans around the world. It was on that day that Petty asked them
to add the vocal backing to Buddy and the Crickets second single "Oh Boy!"
and they would also contribute their skills to no less than 9 of the tracks
featured on "The Chirping Crickets", the groups first album. They were replaced by The Roses in 1958.
This album contains some of Buddy Holly and the Crickets songs that were
not originally overdubbed by Petty and was released in 1993 by Magnum Records
U.K. although the recordings were overdubbed in February and June 1984.
