Showcase
Showcase was released in 1964 and again featured a wide mix of Holly recordings which Norman Petty had put his not inconsiderable talent to work on.
Somehow I find it difficult to see why Petty did not use J.I. and Joe B. to enhance these recordings instead of using the Fireballs, not that I don't think that the group were talented, it's just that the recordings would be more authentic with the original personnel backing Buddy. That said it would be pretty mean of me to say that his former manager didn't do a good job of cleaning up the acetates and tapes. Note also Petty's addition of an early synthesizer on "Ummm Oh Yeah".
