Terry R. Shaw - Willmar, Minnesota, USA

I am a semi-retired art teacher who plays in a 50's and 60's rock band on weekends. (I’m a drummer/singer/guitarist). My hobby is music and I am an "expert" volunteer on the www.allexperts.com site on the Internet if anybody needs chords or lyrics to any song or just information songs or performers from that era. (I've got every single Holly song worked out in my songbook.) I just finished a "Recording Dates and Information" book on the Beatles that is about 20 times bigger than the one I did on Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly, the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison and the Beatles have always been my favorites and I read and listen to everything I can about them. I've met the Everlys and Roy each once. They talked to my brother and I for about 10 minutes each. I just missed Buddy when he came through my state on the "Winter Dance Tour" in Mankato, Minnesota. I live in Minnesota and had cousins who lived one block from the Kato Ballroom, where Buddy performed. I can't remember why I didn't go but I bet it had to do with getting there (60 miles) in the winter with no car. In the summer I used to hitchhike down there all the time and met the Everlys there when they set an attendance record. About 10 years later, I was in a band with my brother and we broke that record. What a thrill.

I did the pages on Buddy just because I love his music and had seen several partial or incorrect lists and I thought somebody should put it all together and try to correct mistakes. I'm sure I've got some mistakes myself because all the sources are "second-hand" knowledge from the 'net or books and they contained mistakes. If I found the same information in 2-3 sources, I used it as "gospel". I started with the books I mention in the bibliography and then went to other sources to supplement it. I guess it has taken me about 2 months. (I've spent about 10 years on the Beatles one. It keeps growing!) There are some tour dates I'm missing and songwriters for some of the very early songs, but I think it’s pretty complete.
