The original
album had twelve tracks which are featured here 1 to 12 but since this
is a 1992 CD there are ten extra bonus tracks making it a really good purchase.
Bobby Vee will be forever tied to the memory of Buddy Holly because he
was the replacement act on the fateful "Winter Dance Party" tour that ended
so tragically for the three stars.
Here he gives his rendition of some of Buddy Holly And The Crickets most
famous songs and for good measure the bonus tracks include several more
that were either thought not good enough at the time or destined for a
volume 2.
The final track was recorded in 1977 at the Jack Clement Studio in Nashville
and was released in 1978. Tracks 19, 20 and 21 were recorded at Clovis,
New Mexico and engineered by Norman Petty with vocal backing by The Picks.
Just for the record track 2
is an alternate version from the original album which used the same track
as used on "Bobby Vee Meets The Crickets", it's the same backing track
with a different vocal.
The lyrics on track 12 were written by Buddy's mother.
Track 18 was written by Les Van Dyke (A.K.A. Johnny Worth) who also wrote
"What Do You Want" which Bobby had covered two years earlier.
